Rustie - Bonuzz

as you may or may not know, i didn't particularly enjoy the new rustie album to my great dismay. as an avid fan of glass swords, his new material felt incomplete, poorly mixed, neutered, and rushed, so after discovering that there was a japanese only bonus track called "bonuzz" i wasn't expecting too much. the addition of two z's is reminiscent of rustie's old habit of adding them to track titles (see: "triadzz", "eyezz", "ultra thizz") and gave me a spark of hope that it was maybe like his old material. and it is! mostly. "bonuzz" keeps the trap drums so prevalent in his recent work, but complete the picture of maximalistic dance music with his trademark speaker-busting neon synth work and attention-deficit structural shifts. "bonuzz" alone has a lot more energy to it than most of green language, sadly. this one's a keeper.
