before the end of the month, ryan hemsworth's new digital label secret songs will release a label compilation that "will feature entirely original, new music from some of brightest producers from all over." one of the first tracks to be shared from it is swick and lewis cancut's effervescent, bubbly hit "wishes", with guest vocals from singer tkay maidza. if the sticky, pink goo splattering glee of the tune is at all suggestive of how shh#ffb6c will turn out, well, let's just say i am amply hyped. the concentrated pop and pitch-perfect vocals help it rise to the occasion and stand toe to toe with pc music's rising stars.
speaking of pc music, gfoty and ryan hemsworth himself interviewed each other for logo magazine, with gfoty inquiring about why the label was started, and ryan, in turn, grilling gfoty about an alleged new track she has prepared for the compilation. how exciting! the text-speak interview is, naturally, being presented as some scandalous leak of flirty private messages shared between the two artists, and along with the juicier compilation and label talk, there's also some real talk about peanut butter and which mario kart 64 character they use (toad, btw). good to know gfoty's sense of bitter, facetious irony hasn't dulled over the years.
