future beats duo MYSTERIOUS エイリアン ascribe to the less vaporwave-y approach to vaporwave, which i am more than ok with. the genre has long since stagnated, and new blood in the form of future beats, a genre that crosses over with hip hop, beats music, lo-fi, and bass music, leaves artists with much more breathing room than the generic "HEY LET'S SAMPLE OLD SONGS AND LOOP THEM LAZILY" shit does, without just hiding behind the aesthetics. fortunately, the four seasons ep changes shit up with some clear jpop sampling, trap drums, and a fun sensibility that gets you moving on the dance floor, as the eponymous song "dance floors" suggests. good stuff. there's a link to download the ep for free on its bandcamp page, but hey, it's only a buck. might as well pay! it's worth it.
