Shamir - On The Regular
19-year-old shamir is way too young to be this successful. after releasing the pretty damn good northtown ep, he has jumped ship from pitchfork affiliate label godmode to the renowned and awesome XL, (who released the QT single from earlier this year, in case you didn't know), and with this great news, released another single. hopefully a preview for an upcoming full length, the song is a castrato ode to stayin' hip; titled "on the regular", shamir extolls the virtues of, well, being shamir, colouring in his disco house with fresh prince and dj jazzy jeff rhymes (only 90s kidz will get the reference), only to break into a very annie clark bridge, this song is killer.
can a music video even handle such a disco glitter rainbow of a song? short answer: yes. long answer: yeeeessssssss.
